Possible Causes
Stuck brine valve, Clogged brine line preventing draw, Leaking refill control, Incorrect float height adjustment
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Place the softener in bypass and unplug power. Have a bucket or wet/dry vacuum ready for water removal.
- Remove excess water: Use a wet/dry vacuum or small pump to remove water from the brine cabinet down to a normal level (just above the grid or bottom).
- Inspect float assembly: Remove the brine well cover and check that the float moves freely. Clean any salt sludge or debris from the float and valve seat.
- Check brine line: Ensure the brine line is not kinked or blocked. Disconnect at the valve and brine well and flush with water.
- Clean injector: A clogged injector can prevent brine draw, causing overfill. Remove and clean the injector/venturi as described in the no-brine-draw procedure.
- Test refill: Run a regeneration and watch the refill stage. If water continues to flow into the brine tank after the refill step, the brine valve or control valve may need replacement.
