Possible Causes

Stuck or failed turbine flow meter, Broken flow meter cable, Debris in meter housing, Control board not reading pulses

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Place the softener in bypass and relieve pressure before removing any plumbing connections.

  • Check flow meter cable: Locate the flow meter on the inlet side of the WaterBoss valve. Ensure the cable is firmly connected to both the meter and the control board.
  • Inspect for damage: Look for kinks, cuts, or crushed sections of the cable. Replace if damaged.
  • Clean the meter: Remove the flow meter housing (have towels ready). Inspect the turbine/impeller for debris or scale. Clean gently with water and a soft brush, then reinstall.
  • Test operation: Take the unit out of bypass and run water at a faucet. Watch the display (if it shows flow rate or usage). If E7 remains or usage does not register, the flow meter or control board may need replacement.
