WaterBoss
Over-Brining / Excessive Regeneration
WaterBoss softener uses excessive salt; salt level drops very quickly
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Hardness set too high, Capacity set too low, Frequent manual regenerations, Leaking brine valve allowing continuous brine draw
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No internal electrical work is required for programming; use caution when working around water and salt.
- Review settings: Check hardness and capacity settings. Adjust to match actual water hardness and household usage per the WaterBoss manual.
- Check regeneration frequency: Ensure the unit is not set to regenerate every day unnecessarily. For demand models, verify that the flow meter is working correctly.
- Inspect brine valve: Remove the brine well cover and observe the float and valve. If water is constantly moving in the brine line during service, the brine valve may be leaking and should be cleaned or replaced.
- Monitor over time: After adjustments, track salt usage for several weeks to confirm improvement.
