E01
Waterguy
Inlet Water Supply Fault
Control panel shows E01 and softener will not start a regeneration cycle

Possible Causes
Closed or partially closed inlet bypass valve, Clogged inlet screen on control valve, Low or no household water pressure, Kinked or blocked inlet plumbing to softener head
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off electrical power to the softener and close the main water supply before disconnecting any plumbing. Depressurize the system by opening a nearby cold-water faucet.
- Check bypass position: Verify the Waterguy bypass valve is in the SERVICE position (handles parallel to the pipe). If in BYPASS, turn to SERVICE and see if E01 clears after restoring power.
- Inspect inlet shutoff: Confirm the inlet shutoff valve feeding the softener is fully open.
- Clean inlet screen: Remove the inlet union at the Waterguy control valve head. Locate and gently remove the small inlet screen (if equipped). Rinse under running water and brush off sediment. Reinstall and tighten the union without overtightening.
- Check for kinks/blocks: Inspect copper/PEX/flex lines to the softener for kinks or crushed sections. Straighten or replace damaged sections.
- Restore power and test: Turn water back on slowly, check for leaks, then restore power. Manually start a regeneration. If E01 persists, the internal flow sensor or control valve may be faulty and should be inspected by a technician.
