Possible Causes

Restricted drain line causing slow flow, Clogged drain flow control, Low water pressure, Control valve piston not fully shifting between positions

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the softener and place it in BYPASS. Ensure the drain line is not under pressure before disconnecting.

  • Inspect drain line: Follow the drain hose from the Waterguy valve to the drain. Check for kinks, sags that hold water, or blockages at the air gap or standpipe. Straighten or clear as needed.
  • Clean drain flow control: At the valve head, remove the drain line fitting and locate the drain flow control (small orifice or button). Remove and soak in vinegar to dissolve scale, then rinse and reinstall.
  • Check house pressure: Confirm that household water pressure meets Waterguy minimum (typically 20–25 psi). Very low pressure can cause timeouts.
  • Manual advance: With power restored, manually step the valve through each regeneration stage using the control buttons. Listen for smooth shifting. If the valve stalls or grinds, the piston/seal pack may be worn or jammed.

If E07 repeats after drain and pressure issues are corrected, the internal piston and seal kit or entire control valve may need replacement.
