Possible Causes
Stuck brine safety float, Misadjusted float height, Faulty brine level switch, Wiring fault between float and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the softener. Do not tip the brine tank when it is full.
- Inspect float assembly: Remove the brine well cover and gently lift the float rod up and down. It should move freely. If it is crusted with salt, clean with warm water and a soft brush.
- Check float setting: Ensure the float stop collar is set to the correct height per Waterguy specifications. If set too low, the system may think the brine level is always low.
- Test switch: If accessible, use a multimeter to test continuity of the float switch while moving the float. Replace if it does not change state.
- Verify wiring: Follow the float switch wires to the control head and ensure the connector is secure and not corroded.
If E09 remains after cleaning and adjustment, the brine level switch or associated wiring harness should be replaced.
