• Clean brine tank: Empty salt and sludge, scrub with an iron-removal cleaner or diluted bleach, and rinse thoroughly.
• Use high-purity salt: Switch to solar or pellet salt with low insoluble content.
• Resin cleaner: Periodically add a Waterguy-approved iron-removal resin cleaner to the brine well and run a regeneration.
• Consider pre-treatment: For very high iron, install an iron filter ahead of the softener.
