Possible Causes
Clogged brine refill orifice, Blocked refill line to brine tank, Failed brine refill solenoid/valve, Safety float stuck in closed position
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and place it in bypass before opening the valve or brine tank components.
- Manually add water: Add 3–4 gallons of water to the brine tank to allow at least one proper regeneration while you troubleshoot.
- Inspect refill tubing: Check the small tube from the Watersoft valve to the brine tank for kinks or blockages. Replace if damaged.
- Clean refill orifice: Remove and clean the brine refill orifice/flow control. Soak in vinegar to remove scale.
- Check safety float: Ensure the float is not stuck in the up (closed) position. Clean and free it if necessary.
- Test refill valve: During the refill step, listen for the valve energizing and feel for flow. Replace the Watersoft brine refill valve if it does not open.
