Possible Causes

Leaking brine refill valve, Stuck safety float not shutting off water, Blocked brine line preventing draw, Incorrect brine refill setting too high

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Put the softener in bypass and unplug it. Clean up any spilled brine promptly to prevent corrosion and slipping hazards.

  • Lower brine level: Use a wet/dry vacuum or small pump to remove excess water from the brine tank.
  • Inspect safety float: Remove and clean the Watersoft safety float and air check assembly. Ensure it moves freely and seals when raised.
  • Check brine valve: With the unit in service and not regenerating, observe whether water continues to enter the brine tank. If so, the brine refill valve is leaking and should be replaced.
  • Verify brine draw: During regeneration, confirm that the unit actually draws brine out of the tank. If not, clean the injector/venturi and brine line.
  • Adjust refill setting: Reduce the brine refill time or volume in the Watersoft programming to the recommended value for your salt dosage.
