E06
Watersoft
Real-Time Clock / Memory Backup Fault
E06 error and display shows incorrect time or loses programming frequently

Possible Causes
Failed backup battery on Watersoft control board, Faulty real-time clock circuit, Power supply instability, Corroded board traces near memory components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control housing.
- Check power source: Verify the outlet provides stable voltage and is not controlled by a switch or timer. Avoid plugging the softener into a circuit that is frequently turned off.
- Inspect backup battery: Many Watersoft boards use a coin-cell or small rechargeable battery to maintain time and settings. Locate the battery on the PCB and check for corrosion or leakage. Replace with the exact specified type if removable.
- Clean corrosion: If there is minor corrosion around the battery holder, gently clean with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush. Severe corrosion may require board replacement.
- Reprogram and monitor: After replacing the battery, re-enter the time, hardness, and regeneration settings. Monitor over several days to see if E06 returns or settings are lost.
If the clock circuit itself is defective, the entire Watersoft main control board will need replacement.
