E16 error and unit indicates high inlet pressure or pressure sensor fault (on models with sensor)
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off water supply and relieve pressure before removing any pressure-sensing components.
- Measure actual pressure: Use a pressure gauge on a nearby faucet to confirm inlet pressure. If above the Watersoft rating (often 80 psi), install or adjust a pressure-reducing valve.
- Inspect sensor tubing: If your model uses a remote pressure tube, check for kinks, blockages, or leaks. Clear or replace tubing as needed.
- Check sensor wiring: Verify the pressure sensor connector is fully seated on the control board and free of corrosion.
- Replace sensor: If actual pressure is normal but E16 persists, replace the Watersoft pressure sensor with the correct part number.
Continued operation at excessive pressure can damage the softener and plumbing; correct any pressure issues before clearing the error.
