Possible Causes

Stuck safety float in brine well, Leaking brine valve allowing continuous refill, Blocked brine line preventing draw, Misadjusted float height

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: If the brine tank is near overflowing, place the softener in bypass and unplug it. Use a wet/dry vacuum to remove excess brine if needed.

  • Inspect safety float: Remove the brine well cover and check the Watersoft safety float assembly. Ensure it moves freely up and down and is not jammed by salt or debris.
  • Clean float and air check: Disassemble the float and air check valve. Rinse with warm water to remove salt buildup and reassemble correctly.
  • Check brine valve: Inspect the brine refill valve in the control head for leakage. If water continues to trickle into the brine tank when not in refill, replace the brine valve.
  • Adjust float height: Set the float to the recommended maximum brine level per Watersoft instructions to prevent future overfills.

After correcting the cause, reset E19 and monitor the next regeneration to ensure the brine level stabilizes correctly.
