Possible Causes
Cracked Watersoft valve body, Worn O-rings on plumbing connectors, Loose drain or brine fittings, Damaged piston rod seal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately place the unit in bypass and shut off water if leak is severe. Unplug the softener.
- Identify leak source: Dry the valve area and observe where water reappears—around inlet/outlet, drain, brine port, or top cover.
- Tighten fittings: Gently tighten any loose threaded or quick-connect fittings. Do not overtighten plastic parts.
- Replace O-rings: Remove the leaking connector and replace its O-ring with a Watersoft-approved seal. Lubricate lightly with silicone grease if recommended.
- Inspect valve body: Look for hairline cracks in the plastic valve housing. If cracked, the entire Watersoft control valve body must be replaced.
- Check top seal: If water leaks from under the top cover, the piston rod seal may be worn; install a new piston and seal kit.
