How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Place the softener in bypass to stop the continuous drain and conserve water. Unplug before disassembly.
Steps:
- Confirm continuous flow: Observe the drain line to verify water flows even when the unit is in service mode.
- Inspect rotor and seal: Remove the valve cover and rotor and seal assembly. Look for cuts, warping, or debris on sealing surfaces.
- Clean valve body: Remove any foreign material from the valve seats and passages.
- Check cam alignment: Ensure the cam positions the rotor correctly in service mode.
Resolution: Replace the rotor and seal assembly. If the valve body is cracked or eroded, replace the entire valve head assembly.
