This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No internal high-voltage work is required for basic checks, but unplug the unit before removing the control cover.
Steps:
- Verify programming: Check hardness, capacity, and regeneration frequency settings. Extremely low capacity or very high hardness can cause frequent regenerations.
- Check flow meter accuracy: Compare the unit's usage reading to your actual water use. If the softener thinks you are using far more water than you are, the flow meter may be faulty.
- Reset lockout: Consult the user manual for the procedure to clear a safety lockout or perform a factory reset. Typically this involves holding specific buttons for several seconds.
Resolution: If ERR10 returns after reprogramming and reset, inspect and replace the turbine flow meter assembly if it is over-counting. Persistent ERR10 with a good flow meter indicates a control board fault.
