Possible Causes

Stuck turbine wheel, Failed Hall-effect flow sensor, Wiring harness damage to flow sensor, Debris or scale in turbine housing

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Shut off water using the bypass valve and disconnect power before removing the valve head or flow meter components.

Steps:

  • Check for flow indication: With the unit powered and in service, run a faucet. The display should show flow or a moving indicator. If ERR5 is present and no flow is detected, continue.
  • Inspect turbine housing: Remove the inlet/outlet plumbing as needed to access the turbine/flow meter on the valve head. Look for sand, scale, or resin beads obstructing the turbine.
  • Clean turbine: Carefully remove the turbine wheel and sensor assembly. Rinse under clean water and ensure the wheel spins freely with a light puff of air.
  • Check sensor and wiring: Inspect the Hall-effect sensor and its wiring harness for cracks, corrosion, or broken wires. Reseat the connector at the control board.
  • Reassemble and test: Reinstall the turbine and sensor, restore water and power, and run water through the system. Confirm that the display now registers flow and ERR5 clears.

If problem persists: Replace the turbine/flow meter assembly. If a new turbine and sensor do not resolve ERR5, the control board's metering circuit may be defective and require replacement.
