Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before handling wiring or the control board.
Steps:
- Check for actual leaks: Ensure no fixtures are running and check for leaks downstream of the softener. A real leak can appear as constant flow.
- Inspect wiring: Trace the flow sensor cable from the turbine to the control board. Look for pinched, abraded, or spliced wires. Reroute away from high-voltage lines if possible.
- Reseat connectors: Unplug and reconnect the flow sensor plug at the control board to ensure a solid connection.
- Test with water off: Close the main water supply or bypass the softener. If the display still shows flow or ERR8, the sensor or board is likely faulty.
Resolution: Replace the turbine flow meter assembly if false pulses are detected with no water flow. If a new sensor does not resolve ERR8, replace the electronic control board.
