Possible Causes

Motor energized but unable to turn, Jammed rotor, Gear train locked, Incorrect voltage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit immediately if you hear a continuous hum without movement to prevent motor damage. Place the softener in bypass.

Steps:

  • Check for movement: With the cover removed, briefly power the unit and start a regeneration to see if the motor shaft attempts to turn.
  • Manually rotate valve: With power off, try to rotate the cam by hand. If it is locked, the rotor and seal or internal valve parts may be jammed.
  • Inspect gears: Look for broken or jammed gears preventing rotation.

Resolution: If the valve is free but the motor only hums, replace the drive motor assembly. If the valve is jammed, replace the rotor and seal assembly or the complete valve head assembly.
