Possible Causes

Clogged injector/venturi, Fouled resin bed, Partially closed bypass, Sediment in inlet/outlet ports

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Place the unit in bypass before disassembling any plumbing. Unplug the unit if opening the valve head.

Steps:

  • Compare pressure: Note water pressure with the softener in bypass versus in service. If bypass restores normal pressure, the restriction is in the softener.
  • Check bypass and valves: Ensure all inlet/outlet valves are fully open and the bypass is not partially engaged.
  • Clean injector/venturi: Remove and clean the injector/venturi assembly and screens.
  • Inspect resin bed: If the unit is older or has seen iron-laden water, the resin may be fouled. Consider a resin cleaner treatment or resin replacement.

Resolution: If cleaning does not restore flow, replace the injector/venturi kit and consider replacing the resin media if fouling is severe.
