Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the appliance from mains before accessing the control board. Capacitors on the board can retain charge briefly.
Steps:
- 1. Confirm basic power: Check that the outlet has correct voltage and that the power cord is intact. If other functions (light, display) work, mains supply is likely fine.
- 2. Access control board: On many AEG wine coolers, the main PCB is located at the rear behind a metal or plastic cover, or at the top behind the control panel. Remove the cover screws to expose the board.
- 3. Visual inspection: Look for burnt areas, swollen capacitors, or darkened relay housings. Check for moisture or corrosion, especially near connectors.
- 4. Reseat connectors: One by one, unplug and replug the harnesses to clean contacts. Ensure each connector is fully seated.
- 5. Functional test: Restore power and see if E6 clears. If not, and if no output is sent to the compressor or fan despite correct inputs, the board is likely defective.
- 6. Replace board: Order the exact AEG main control board for your model. Transfer any jumper settings or wiring positions carefully, taking photos before removal. Install the new board, secure it, and reconnect all harnesses.
- 7. Final test: Power on, set a cooling temperature, and verify compressor and fan operation.
Note: If you are not experienced with electronics, have an authorized technician perform board replacement.
