Possible Causes
Defective magnetic reed switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring in cabinet frame, Faulty input circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before removing trims or panels around the door frame.
Steps:
- 1. Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket is not obstructed. A partially open door can mimic a sensor fault.
- 2. Locate door sensor: AEG wine coolers typically use a magnetic reed switch in the cabinet frame and a magnet in the door. Look for a small plastic housing along the top or side frame.
- 3. Test with a magnet: With the unit powered, move a strong magnet over the sensor location. If the alarm stops and E7 clears temporarily, the door magnet may be weak or misaligned.
- 4. Inspect door magnet: Check that the magnet is still embedded in the door seal or trim and has not fallen out. Re-seat or replace if missing.
- 5. Electrical test: Unplug the unit, remove the sensor housing, and test the reed switch for continuity while placing a magnet near it. If it does not open/close correctly, replace the switch.
- 6. Replace sensor: Install an OEM AEG door switch/reed sensor. Route wiring carefully to avoid pinching when refitting trims.
- 7. Control board check: If a known-good sensor and magnet do not resolve E7, the control board input may be faulty and require replacement.
