Possible Causes
Prolonged door opening or poor door seal, Blocked air circulation around bottles, Failed compressor or low refrigerant charge, Faulty temperature sensor reading too high
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks. Unplug the unit if you need to remove panels.
Immediate actions:
- 1. Check door and gasket: Ensure the door closes tightly and the gasket is clean and undamaged. Replace if torn or deformed.
- 2. Reduce load and improve airflow: Avoid overpacking. Leave space between bottles and do not block the rear air outlet or fan area.
- 3. Ambient conditions: Confirm the cooler is not installed in a very hot environment or in direct sunlight. AEG wine coolers have specified ambient temperature ranges; exceeding them can trigger E8.
- 4. Allow recovery time: After heavy loading with warm bottles, it can take many hours to reach set temperature. Silence the alarm (if possible) and monitor temperature with a separate thermometer.
- 5. Check cooling system: If the temperature does not drop at all, listen for compressor and fan operation. If they are not running, investigate compressor start components and control board. If they run continuously but cooling is poor, there may be a sealed system issue (refrigerant leak, blocked capillary) requiring a professional.
- 6. Sensor check: If the cabinet feels cold but the display shows high temperature, test the cabinet NTC sensor as described for E1.
