Possible Causes
Faulty cabinet NTC sensor reading too warm, Stuck mechanical thermostat contacts, Control board not cycling compressor off, Sensor not properly attached to liner
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before accessing sensors or control components.
Steps:
- 1. Confirm with thermometer: Place an accurate thermometer inside to verify actual temperature versus setpoint.
- 2. Inspect sensor placement: Ensure the cabinet sensor is correctly clipped to the liner and not touching the evaporator directly, which can cause it to read too cold or too warm.
- 3. Test sensor: Remove and measure resistance at known temperatures. Replace if out of specification.
- 4. Mechanical thermostat (if fitted): Test for continuity. If it remains closed regardless of knob position, replace the thermostat.
- 5. Control board: If sensors and thermostat are good but the compressor never cycles off, the control board may be defective and require replacement.
