Possible Causes
Loose or damaged ribbon cable between UI and main control, Corroded UI connector, Failed touchpad or display board, Faulty main control board communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or touching any wiring.
- Remove the control panel: From the front of the Amana wine cooler, carefully remove the screws or clips holding the display/control panel. Gently pull it forward.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Look for kinks, tears, or burn marks on the flat ribbon cable or harness connecting the UI to the main control board.
- Reseat connectors: Disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable at both ends (UI board and main control board), ensuring it is fully seated and locked.
- Check for moisture: If there are signs of condensation or liquid intrusion around the control panel, dry the area thoroughly and consider replacing the UI board if corrosion is present.
- Visual inspection of boards: Look for burnt components, cracked solder joints, or corrosion on the UI and main control boards.
- Test operation: Reinstall the control panel, restore power, and check if the E6 code clears and buttons respond normally. If not, replace the user interface board first; if the problem persists, the main control board may also need replacement.
