Possible Causes

Stuck-closed relay on main control board, Shorted cabinet thermistor reading too warm, Miscalibrated control board, Compressor running continuously due to control failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing internal components. Handle glass bottles carefully if they may be frozen.

  • Verify set temperature: Confirm the setpoint on the display is appropriate for wine (typically 45–65°F). Adjust if accidentally set too low.
  • Check cabinet thermistor: Access the interior temperature sensor and test its resistance at actual compartment temperature. If it reads much lower resistance than expected (indicating a falsely warm reading), replace the thermistor.
  • Inspect main control board: Remove the rear access panel and look for a stuck or burnt compressor relay on the board. A relay that is welded closed will keep the compressor running constantly.
  • Replace faulty components: Install a new cabinet thermistor if readings are off. If the relay is stuck or the board shows damage, replace the main control board with the correct Amana part.
  • Test and monitor: After repairs, set the desired temperature and monitor with an independent thermometer for 24 hours to ensure the unit cycles properly and does not overcool.
