Possible Causes
Door gasket leaking, Thermistor out of calibration, Control board not recognizing set temperature, Unit installed in very hot room, Refrigerant undercharge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before adjusting door or accessing sensors.
- Check actual temperature: Place an accurate thermometer in the center of the cabinet. If the temperature is at or below setpoint but the unit keeps running, suspect a control or sensor issue.
- Inspect door seal: Look for gaps, tears, or warped areas in the gasket. Replace the gasket or adjust hinges to ensure a tight seal.
- Test cabinet thermistor: Measure resistance and compare to Amana's temperature-resistance chart. Replace if readings are off.
- Evaluate environment: If the cooler is in a garage or hot room above 90°F, it may run nearly continuously. Relocate to a cooler area if possible.
- Control board replacement: If the sensor is good and the environment is normal, but the compressor never cycles off, the main control board may have a stuck relay and should be replaced.
