Possible Causes
Misaligned or failed magnetic door switch, Weak or misaligned door magnet, Damaged door switch wiring, Faulty door input on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the cooler before accessing the door switch or control board.
- Locate the door switch: On many Antarctic Star models, a magnetic reed switch is hidden in the cabinet frame, and a magnet is embedded in the door. Some models use a visible plunger switch.
- Check door alignment: Ensure the door is level and not sagging. Adjust the hinges if the door is rubbing or not closing squarely.
- Test the switch: If it is a visible plunger switch, press it by hand and see if the alarm stops. For magnetic switches, hold a small magnet over the frame area where the switch is located and see if the alarm clears.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the interior trim near the switch area and check for loose or broken wires.
- Replace faulty components: If the switch does not respond, replace the door switch / magnetic reed switch. If the magnet in the door is missing or weak, replace the door magnet.
- Control board input: If a known-good switch and magnet do not clear dE, the main control PCB door input circuit may be defective.
