Display shows E5 and compressor or fan operation is erratic or does not start.

Safety: Unplug the cooler before accessing the compressor compartment. Capacitors can hold charge; avoid touching exposed terminals.

• Check power source: Verify the outlet supplies a stable 110–120V AC using another appliance. Avoid extension cords or power strips.
• Access compressor components: Remove the rear lower panel to expose the compressor, start relay/PTC, and overload protector.
• Inspect start relay and overload: Remove the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Check for burnt smell, discoloration, or rattling pieces inside the relay when shaken gently.
• Test continuity: With a multimeter, test the overload protector and relay/PTC for continuity according to their specifications. An open overload or burnt relay will prevent compressor start.
• Replace faulty start components: Install a new compressor start relay/PTC and/or overload protector compatible with your Antarctic Star compressor model. Ensure tight fit on the compressor pins.
• Inspect control board: If start components are good, inspect the main control PCB for burnt spots or swollen capacitors. Replace the board if visibly damaged or if voltage to the compressor is not being supplied when it should be.
• Do not attempt sealed system repair: If the compressor itself is shorted or seized, sealed system work should be done only by a licensed refrigeration technician.
