E8
Antarctic Star
Overtemperature / Overheat Protection Fault
Display shows E8 and the unit shuts down or beeps, often related to high temperature or overheat.

Possible Causes
Blocked ventilation around cabinet, Overheated compressor due to dirty condenser, Faulty overtemperature sensor, Control board misreading temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off and unplug the cooler before cleaning or moving it.
- Check installation clearance: Ensure there is at least the manufacturer-recommended clearance (typically 2–4 inches) at the back and sides of the Antarctic Star wine cooler for proper airflow.
- Clean condenser and vents: Remove the rear cover and vacuum dust from the condenser coil, compressor area, and any ventilation grilles. Clean front kick plate vents as well.
- Allow cooling: If the compressor is very hot to the touch, leave the unit unplugged for 30–60 minutes to cool down, then restore power and see if E8 clears.
- Inspect overtemp sensor: Some models use a dedicated overheat sensor near the compressor or condenser. Check its wiring and connector for damage.
- Verify ambient conditions: Ensure the cooler is not installed in a very hot environment (e.g., garage above 90–95°F), which can trigger overheat protection.
- Replace faulty components: If the overtemperature sensor is defective, replace it with the correct overheat / safety thermostat or thermistor. If the error persists with proper cooling and good sensors, the main control PCB may need replacement.
