Possible Causes
Incorrect temperature setting, Faulty temperature sensor reading too low, Stuck relay on control board keeping compressor on, Ambient room temperature very low
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Use caution when working near live controls; unplug if removing panels.
- Verify set temperature: Confirm the setpoint on the Antarctic Star control panel is correct for wine storage (typically 41–68°F depending on model and wine type).
- Check ambient conditions: If the cooler is in a cold room (e.g., unheated basement or garage), the internal temperature may drop below the setpoint. Move the unit to a more suitable environment.
- Monitor compressor cycling: Observe whether the compressor turns off periodically. If it runs continuously and L1 persists, suspect a sensor or control issue.
- Test temperature sensor: Compare the displayed temperature with an accurate thermometer placed inside. If the display is much lower than actual, the cabinet thermistor may be faulty and should be replaced.
- Control board issue: If the sensor is accurate but the compressor does not cycle off, the main control PCB relay may be stuck closed and require replacement.
