Possible Causes
Door gasket leaking warm moist air, Defective defrost sensor or heater (if equipped), Door frequently opened in humid environment, Blocked air circulation around evaporator
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the cooler before defrosting or removing panels. Do not use sharp tools to remove ice.
- Manual defrost: Turn off and unplug the unit. Open the door and place towels to catch water. Allow all ice to melt completely (this may take several hours).
- Check door gasket: Inspect for cracks, gaps, or dirt. Clean the gasket with warm soapy water and dry. Replace the door gasket if it does not seal tightly.
- Inspect evaporator cover: Ensure the interior rear panel is properly installed and not warped, which can disrupt airflow.
- Defrost components (if present): On models with automatic defrost, access the evaporator and test the defrost heater and defrost sensor/thermistor for continuity. Replace any open components.
- Usage habits: Minimize door openings, especially in humid climates, to reduce moisture entering the cabinet.
