Possible Causes

Shorted or misreading thermistor, Stuck compressor relay on control board, Control board firmware fault, Sensor not properly positioned in airflow

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing sensors or the control board.

  • Verify setpoint: Confirm the temperature setting is not at the minimum. Raise the setpoint and see if the compressor cycles off.
  • Check sensor placement: Locate the cabinet temperature sensor and ensure it is properly mounted on the wall or near the evaporator, not touching the evaporator coil directly or hanging loose.
  • Test sensor: Measure resistance and compare to expected values. Replace the thermistor if it reads very low resistance (indicating falsely cold).
  • Observe compressor: If the compressor never shuts off even when the interior is very cold, the main control PCB relay may be stuck closed. Replace the board if necessary.
