• Check power and outlet: Confirm the outlet works by plugging in another appliance. Ensure the cooler's power cord is not damaged.
• Listen for operation: When plugged in, listen for any humming or clicking from the compressor area. Repeated clicking can indicate a bad start relay.
• Inspect start components: Remove the rear panel and the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Check the start relay/PTC and overload protector for burn marks or rattling pieces.
• Test and replace: Use a multimeter to test continuity of the relay and overload. Replace them if open or visibly damaged.
• Control board output: If start components are good but the compressor never receives voltage, the main control PCB may be faulty and require replacement.
• Compressor failure: If the compressor windings test open or shorted, or if it hums loudly and overheats without starting even with new start components, the compressor is likely bad. Sealed system replacement must be done by a licensed technician.
