Possible Causes
Failed evaporator temperature sensor, Open defrost heater (on frost-free compressor models), Defective defrost relay on main PCB, Heavy ice buildup on evaporator blocking airflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before removing interior panels. Avoid damaging refrigerant lines or the evaporator fins.
- Check for frost buildup: Remove shelves and the rear interior panel of the cooling zone. Look for heavy ice accumulation on the evaporator coil.
- Manual defrost: If the coil is iced over, leave the unit unplugged with doors open for 12–24 hours until all ice melts. Place towels to catch water. Do not use hair dryers too close to plastic parts or refrigerant lines.
- Inspect evaporator sensor: Locate the small sensor clipped to the evaporator tubing or fins. Ensure it is firmly attached and not dangling. Check for damaged wires.
- Test sensor and heater: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the evaporator sensor and measure its resistance. Also test the defrost heater (if present) for continuity. An open heater or sensor requires replacement.
- Replace faulty components: Install a new evaporator NTC sensor and/or defrost heater compatible with your Aobosi model. Secure the sensor in good thermal contact with the coil.
- Reassemble and test: After reassembly, restore power and monitor for normal cooling and absence of the E8 code over several cycles.
