Digital display shows E1 and the cabinet is not cooling properly or temperature is erratic.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Arctic King wine cooler from the wall outlet before removing any panels or touching internal wiring.
Steps to check and address E1:
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes, then plug it back in to see if the code clears. If E1 returns, continue.
- Locate the cabinet sensor: The cabinet NTC temperature sensor is usually clipped to the evaporator fins or mounted on the rear interior wall behind a small plastic cover. Remove interior shelves and any decorative cover to access it.
- Inspect the sensor and wiring: Look for broken insulation, pinched wires, or corrosion at the sensor plug. Gently tug the connector at the sensor and at the main control board to ensure it is fully seated.
- Test the sensor (if you have a multimeter): Disconnect the sensor from the harness and measure resistance at room temperature. Most Arctic King NTC sensors read between 5–20 kΩ at ~25°C. A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace if faulty: If the sensor is open/shorted or physically damaged, replace it with an Arctic King cabinet NTC temperature sensor compatible with your model. Route the new sensor along the original path and secure it with clips or tape away from moving parts.
- Reconnect and test: Reconnect the harness, restore power, and monitor the display. The E1 code should clear after a short run period if the sensor and wiring are correct.
When to call a technician: If the sensor tests good but E1 persists, the main control board may have a failed sensor input circuit and should be diagnosed or replaced by a professional.
