Possible Causes

Failed evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Broken or shorted sensor harness to control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Disconnect power before accessing internal components. Sharp metal edges inside the cabinet can cause injury; wear cut-resistant gloves.

Steps to address E2:

  • Reset the control: Unplug the cooler for 5 minutes and plug it back in. If E2 reappears, proceed with inspection.
  • Access the evaporator area: Remove interior shelves and the rear interior panel (usually held by Phillips screws) to expose the evaporator coil and fan assembly.
  • Locate the evaporator sensor: Look for a small probe or bullet-style sensor clipped to the evaporator tubing or embedded in foam, connected by thin wires.
  • Check mounting and condition: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil and not hanging loose. Inspect the wire for cuts, chafing, or ice damage.
  • Test resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the harness and measure resistance. Compare to the cabinet sensor spec (often similar NTC curve). A reading of 0 Ω or infinite indicates failure.
  • Replace if defective: Install a new Arctic King evaporator NTC sensor. Clip it securely to the evaporator tubing in the same location to ensure accurate defrost and temperature control.
  • Reassemble and test: Reinstall the interior panel, restore power, and verify that the E2 code clears and the unit cycles normally.

Note: If the sensor and wiring are good, the main PCB may be misreading the sensor and require replacement.
