Possible Causes
Defective PTC start relay, Open thermal overload protector, Failed compressor windings, Loose compressor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and allow the compressor to cool before touching it.
- Listen for sounds: A repeated clicking from the compressor area suggests the overload is tripping.
- Access compressor terminals: Remove the plastic cover on the compressor. Inspect the PTC relay and overload for burn marks or cracks.
- Test overload: Check continuity across the overload protector. Replace if open.
- Test compressor windings: With the relay removed, measure resistance between the three compressor pins. All readings should be finite and not shorted to ground. Abnormal readings indicate a failed compressor requiring professional replacement.
- Replace PTC relay/overload: Install Artevino-specified start components and re-test. If the compressor still fails to start, contact a refrigeration technician.
