Possible Causes
Overheated compressor due to poor ventilation, Faulty compressor start relay or PTC, Defective compressor thermal overload protector, High head pressure from dirty condenser or failed condenser fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing rear panels. The compressor and condenser can be very hot.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the Artevino cabinet has the required clearance around the sides and rear. Remove any obstructions from the front or rear grille.
- Clean condenser: Remove the lower rear panel to access the condenser coil. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint. A clogged condenser can cause overheating and E5 errors.
- Inspect condenser fan: Verify that the condenser fan runs when the compressor is commanded on. If the fan is seized or noisy, replace the fan motor.
- Check start relay and overload: Remove the cover on the compressor terminals. Inspect the PTC start relay and overload protector for burn marks or rattling pieces. Test continuity of the overload and replace any suspect components with Artevino-compatible parts.
- Allow cooling time: If the compressor is very hot, allow it to cool for 30–60 minutes before retesting. Persistent E5 after relay/overload replacement may indicate a failing compressor, which requires a professional with refrigeration certification.
