Possible Causes
Defective magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring, Faulty door input circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing door trims or control panel components.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket is not obstructing. Gently press the door to see if the alarm stops.
- Locate door switch: On Balay wine coolers, the door switch may be a small plunger switch in the frame or a hidden magnetic reed switch near the top or side.
- Test switch: If accessible, press the mechanical switch and listen for a click. For magnetic switches, move a magnet near the sensor and see if the alarm stops.
- Inspect magnet: Verify the magnet embedded in the door frame is present and aligned with the sensor. Reposition or replace if missing.
- Electrical test: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the switch and test continuity while actuating it. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- Control board: If the switch and wiring are good, the door input on the PCB may be faulty and require board replacement.
