Possible Causes
Fan motor with failed tachometer output, Broken tach wire in fan harness, Connector issue at main PCB, Faulty tach input circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before touching the fan or wiring.
- Access fan assembly: Remove interior panels to reach the evaporator fan.
- Inspect fan connector: Many Balay fans have three wires (power, ground, tach). Ensure the connector is fully seated and wires are intact.
- Test fan operation: With power restored briefly, observe if the fan starts smoothly. If it stalls or pulses, the motor may be failing.
- Replace fan: If the tach output is not present or the fan is unstable, replace the fan motor with a Balay-compatible tach fan.
- Control board: If a new fan does not clear E13, the tach input on the PCB may be defective and require board replacement.
