Display shows E2 and the wine cooler runs continuously or cycles erratically; temperature reading is inaccurate or frozen at one value.

Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing the evaporator area. Edges of metal panels and fins can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.

• Locate the evaporator sensor: On Balay wine coolers, the evaporator NTC is typically clipped to or embedded in the evaporator coil behind the internal rear panel.
• Remove the inner rear panel: Take out shelves and any decorative panels. Remove screws and gently pull off the rear panel to expose the evaporator.
• Check sensor position: Ensure the NTC is firmly clipped to the evaporator tubing or bracket. If it has fallen away, reattach it securely and ensure good thermal contact.
• Inspect wiring: Look for ice damage, corrosion, or broken insulation on the sensor leads. Reseat connectors at both ends.
• Test the sensor: Disconnect the NTC and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the cabinet sensor value at similar temperature. If open or shorted, replace the evaporator NTC with a Balay-compatible part.
• Reassemble and test: After replacement, reassemble panels, restore power, and monitor if E2 clears and temperature control stabilizes.
• Control board check: If the sensor and wiring are good, the main PCB may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.
