Possible Causes

Failed ambient NTC sensor near control panel, Loose or oxidized connector at display PCB, Damaged harness between ambient sensor and main control board, Faulty control board analog input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect the wine cooler from mains before removing the control panel or top trim.

  • Locate ambient sensor: On many Balay wine coolers, the ambient NTC is located near the display/control panel or behind the front grille to sense room temperature.
  • Remove control panel trim: Carefully pry off or unscrew the front control panel bezel. Avoid damaging the ribbon cable.
  • Inspect sensor and wiring: Look for a small probe or thermistor attached near the panel. Check for loose plugs, corrosion, or broken wires. Reseat connectors.
  • Measure resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare with expected NTC values (similar to cabinet sensor). Replace if open/shorted or clearly out of range.
  • Replace sensor: Install a Balay-compatible ambient NTC, routing the cable as originally installed. Secure it away from hot components.
  • Check control PCB: If the sensor is good, the display or main PCB may be faulty. Visual inspection for burnt components is possible, but replacement should be done by a technician.
