Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Failed condenser fan motor, Obstructed fan blades, Faulty fan driver on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect mains power before touching any fan wiring or blades.

  • Identify which fan is affected: Listen when the unit is powered (briefly) to determine if the interior evaporator fan or the rear condenser fan is not running. Then unplug before proceeding.
  • Check for obstructions: For the evaporator fan, remove the interior rear panel and inspect for ice buildup or foreign objects blocking the blades. For the condenser fan, remove the rear service panel and clear dust, leaves, or debris.
  • Spin test: With power off, gently spin the fan blades by hand. They should rotate freely. Stiff or seized movement indicates a failing motor.
  • Electrical test: Disconnect the fan motor connector and measure resistance across the motor leads. An open circuit or very high resistance suggests a failed motor.
  • Inspect wiring and PCB connectors: Ensure the fan harness is intact and firmly connected to the main control PCB. Look for burnt pins or melted plastic.
  • Replace faulty fan: Install a new Blastcool evaporator fan motor or Blastcool condenser fan motor as appropriate. Transfer any fan shrouds or brackets from the old motor.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit panels, restore power, and confirm that the fan runs whenever the compressor is operating and that E6 clears.

If the fan motors test good but do not receive voltage when commanded, the main control PCB fan driver circuit may be defective and should be replaced by a technician.
