Possible Causes
Door not fully closed, Misaligned door hinges, Faulty magnetic reed door switch, Broken door switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: This fault is low risk, but always unplug the unit before removing panels or working on wiring.
- Check door closure: Ensure shelves or bottles are not preventing the door from closing. Verify that the door is level and aligned with the cabinet.
- Inspect gasket: Look for twisted or damaged gasket sections that keep the door from sealing. Warm the gasket gently with a hair dryer and reshape if needed.
- Locate door switch: Many Blomberg wine coolers use a magnetic reed switch hidden in the cabinet frame and a magnet in the door. Others use a mechanical plunger switch.
- Test switch: For a reed switch, place a strong magnet near the switch location and see if the door-open icon clears. For a plunger switch, press it manually. If the alarm does not clear, test continuity with a multimeter and replace the switch if faulty.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the switch to the control board for damage. Repair or replace as needed.
