Possible Causes

Defective cabinet NTC sensor, Broken or loose sensor wiring harness, Corroded connector on main control board, Failed main PCB temperature input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Blomberg wine cooler from the wall outlet before removing any panels. Do not work on live circuits.

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then plug back in to see if the E1 code clears. If it returns, continue.
  • Locate the cabinet sensor: The cabinet NTC sensor is usually clipped to the evaporator cover or mounted on the rear interior wall behind a small plastic cover. Remove interior shelves and the rear plastic panel if necessary.
  • Inspect the sensor and wiring: Check for broken insulation, pinched wires, or a sensor that has come loose from its clip. Reseat the connector at both the sensor and the main control board (usually behind the upper front panel or rear service panel).
  • Test the sensor: With a multimeter set to resistance (ohms), measure the NTC sensor at room temperature. A typical Blomberg NTC will read between 5–20 kΩ at ~25°C. If it reads open (OL) or 0 Ω, the sensor is defective and must be replaced.
  • Replace the sensor: Order a compatible Blomberg cabinet temperature sensor (NTC). Disconnect the old sensor, route the new one along the same path, secure it with clips, and reconnect to the control board.
  • If E1 persists: Inspect the main PCB for burnt components or corrosion. If wiring and sensor are good, the control board temperature input circuit may be faulty and the main PCB should be replaced by a qualified technician.
