Possible Causes

Defective evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Damaged sensor harness from ice buildup, Faulty main PCB sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing the evaporator area. Sharp metal edges and ice can cause injury.

  • Access the evaporator: Remove interior shelves and the rear inner panel inside the wine cooler compartment to expose the evaporator coil and fan.
  • Locate the evaporator sensor: It is typically clipped directly to the evaporator tubing or mounted in a small well on the evaporator plate with two wires leading to the control board.
  • Check for ice damage: Look for heavy ice buildup that may have pulled the sensor off or damaged the wiring. Carefully defrost with the unit unplugged and doors open; do not use sharp tools.
  • Test the sensor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the expected NTC value chart (often 5–20 kΩ at room temperature). Replace if open, shorted, or far out of range.
  • Reattach or replace: If the sensor is intact but loose, reclip it firmly to the evaporator. If defective, install a new Blomberg evaporator NTC sensor and route the harness away from moving fan blades.
  • Board check: If a known-good sensor still triggers E2, the main control board may be faulty and should be replaced by a professional.
