Possible Causes

Failed ambient NTC sensor, Sensor disconnected from control board, Wiring harness damage near front display, Faulty main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or display trim.

  • Locate ambient sensor: On many Blomberg wine coolers, the ambient sensor is near the front grille or behind the control panel to measure room temperature.
  • Inspect wiring: Remove the front kick plate or control panel trim. Look for a small sensor probe with two wires. Check for loose connectors, corrosion, or broken wires.
  • Test sensor: Use a multimeter to measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to typical NTC values. If the reading is open or shorted, replace the sensor.
  • Replace sensor: Install a compatible Blomberg ambient NTC sensor, secure it in its original location, and reconnect to the main PCB.
  • Check PCB: If the sensor and wiring are good but E3 remains, the main control board may have a defective sensor input and should be replaced.
