Possible Causes
Failed compressor start relay or PTC, Overheated compressor overload protector, Faulty inverter module (on inverter models), High compressor current draw due to internal compressor fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the rear service panel. Do not attempt sealed system repairs without proper certification.
- Access compressor compartment: Remove the rear lower panel to expose the compressor, start device, and main PCB/inverter module.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the condenser area is clean and that there is adequate space around the cooler. Overheating can trigger E5.
- Inspect start device: Remove the start relay/PTC from the compressor terminals. Shake it gently; if it rattles or shows burn marks, replace it with a compatible Blomberg start device.
- Test overload protector: With a multimeter, check continuity across the overload. If open when cool, replace the overload.
- Inverter models: If your Blomberg wine cooler uses an inverter compressor, visually inspect the inverter board for burnt components. Inverter diagnosis and replacement should be done by a professional.
- If E5 persists: The compressor itself may be drawing excessive current or be mechanically locked. This requires sealed system service by an authorized technician.
