Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Loose or damaged fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working inside the cabinet. Fan blades can start unexpectedly if power is applied.
- Access the fan: Remove shelves and the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator fan assembly.
- Check for ice or obstructions: Look for ice buildup or foreign objects blocking the fan. Defrost the area fully with the unit unplugged; do not chip ice with sharp tools.
- Spin test: Gently spin the fan blades by hand. If stiff or seized, the motor is likely bad and should be replaced.
- Electrical test: With the fan disconnected, measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Also inspect the wiring harness and connector for damage.
- Replace fan motor: Install a compatible Blomberg evaporator fan motor, transfer the fan blade if separate, and reconnect wiring. Ensure the fan spins freely and is centered in its shroud.
- Control board check: If a new fan does not run and E6 remains, the main PCB fan output may be defective and require replacement.
