Possible Causes
Blocked ventilation around wine cooler, Overheated compressor due to dirty condenser, Failed condenser fan motor, Faulty high-temperature sensor or thermal fuse
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning or accessing the rear compartment. The compressor and condenser can be hot.
Steps to address E8:
- Check installation clearance: Ensure there is adequate ventilation space around the sides, top, and rear as specified in the Bosch installation manual. Do not enclose the cooler tightly in cabinetry without proper airflow.
- Clean condenser coils: Remove the lower rear access panel and use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust from the condenser coils and surrounding area.
- Verify condenser fan operation: With power restored, confirm that the condenser fan runs whenever the compressor is on. If the fan does not run, unplug the unit and test the fan motor for continuity. Replace if defective.
- Inspect thermal protection devices: Some models use a thermal fuse or sensor on the compressor or condenser. Check for open circuits and replace any failed thermal device with the correct Bosch part.
- Reset and monitor: After cleaning and repairs, reset power and monitor temperatures. If E8 recurs, the main control board or compressor may require professional diagnosis.
